How Many Face Masks are Too Much?

As a girly who loves to relax at the end of the day and can’t get facials once a month, I live for a face mask. I love to create an entire mask moment, where I lay in the bath and read on my kindle. (Now that I’m thinking about it, I should really add wine, too.) Obviously, this isn’t an everyday occurrence; but some masks need to be used multiple times a week, and some can’t be used more than once every few weeks. So, what’s the verdict on how many face masks are too much?
Here’s a guide to the Deux-approved masks:
The green Hydrating Masque can be used as much as you want- literally. Even every day won’t feel like too much. Because of it’s gentle exfoliation and intense hydration properties, your skin doesn’t ever need a break. In the winter, it’s the best face mask to use in the warm shower, so the steam doesn’t dehydrate the skin further.
The Oxygen Deep Pore Masque is the bubble bath for the face mask, and this one can be used every day! It increases the blood flow to the skin and has a cleansing affect.
The Mattifying Sulfur Masque is a favorite for acne, rosacea, and large pores. As a spot treatment, this can be used 4 times a week. As a full-on mask, this should be limited to 1-2 times per week. This one doesn’t exfoliate, but it does have ingredients that control oil. Too much oil control results in…less oil. Like way less. Like not enough oil.
The Rejuvenating Peptide Mask is our jelly mask that feels cool and hydrating. This one doesn’t have active ingredients and can be used literally any time. There’s no “too much” when it comes to this mask.
The Exfoliating Cleanser is technically a cleanser, but it's WAY too spicy to use every day...so we're putting her in the mask category. This one should be used once a week MAX. It exfoliates chemically with salicylic acid and physically with exfoliating beads. (Not the St Ives kind, don't you worry.)
If you want to use a mask every day, but your preferred mask isn’t conducive to that frequency, don’t worry- I have some recommendations. Finding ways to relax is one of my favorite hobbies. First, take some extra time applying your skincare and do a facial massage during application. (Savannah has a post on Instagram giving instructions.) Facial massages help you relax, but they also help you drain your lymphatic system in your face. You’ll be more snatched the next day too. Secondly, grab a tea that treats your skincare concerns from the inside out, and make that at bedtime. It's a little treat that gives a lot of benefits! Whatever route you chose, don’t forget the most important part- CONSISTENCY.
XOXO Sarah
